Leave it to Emma Chamberlain to give us some out-of-the-box DIY project inspo. The social media superstar has been turning out look after look at Paris Fashion Week, and her academia-chic outfit for the Miu Miu spring-summer 2024 show has me planning a trip to the craft store.
Chamberlain attended the show wearing a patterned blazer jacket with bold gold buttons and a cinched belt over a pale blue collared shirt buttoned right up to the top, eschewing the pants entirely.
The rest of Chamberlain's ensemble was equally noteworthy, including her tortoiseshell glasses, frosty pale blue eyeshadow and nerdy-chic pigtail braids embellished with a plethora of little velvet ribbons and bows up and down each braid. It's back to school, the Emma Chamberlain way.
The outfit is cute, but what we really love is her vintage-inspired choker necklace, which, upon closer examination, is actually crafted to look like a supersized, stretched-out watchband around her neck. A delicate oval-shaped gold watch sits right in the middle of her throat. Sure, you can't really tell time with a watch around your neck, but it's about the look, not the function!
The watch choker would be a pretty simple DIY; all you need is a cute watch or watch face, which can be easily found at your local thrift store. You could extend the length with a ribbon or piece of chain to wear it as a necklace, or hot glue the actual watch face to a piece of velvet or leather for a similar look. Genius!
