Emma Roberts and Cody John are officially engaged! Emma Roberts confirmed the engagement herself with an Instagram post on July 16, 2024. The Space Cadet actress posted a selfie alongside her partner in a field (a proposal location, maybe?), giving us a peek at her diamond ring.
In the picture, Roberts has one of her arms over John's back and the other folded into a soft fist perched under her cheek, with the new shining addition on her ring finger taking center stage. Both actors are smiling brightly in the pic, which you can see below.

“Putting this here before my mom tells everyone,” Roberts captioned her post, seemingly referencing the time her mother, Kelly Cunningham, posted her son's face on Instagram without her consent. (Roberts has a son named Rhodes with her ex-partner Garrett Hedlund.)
As expected, the comment section of Robert's engagement announcement post is filled with positive messages for the couple. “Hahahaha oh man do I relate to this. Congrats Em!!!” Aly Michalka of Aly & AJ commented. “Congratulations 😍🍾🎉❤️” singer JoJo added. “The best match! So excited for this next chapter,” commented Roberts's stylist Brit Hines on stories.
Emma Roberts and Cody John met through mutual friends and went public with their relationship in the summer of 2022 when John posted a small carousel on Instagram, including a black and white picture of the two kissing on a boat. The duo has since kept their relationship private, only being spotted together occasionally while out and about.
"I never want to talk about relationships I'm in or that are ending or have ended. It's hard enough to be with someone by yourself, let alone with an audience," Roberts told Cosmopolitan in 2019. "Growing up is hard. Sometimes it makes me sad that I can’t have a private moment. Because of Twitter and Instagram, there’s a whole other element where everybody can comment on what you’re doing, and no one knows the real story. That’s hard.”
Thankfully, that did not apply to the engagement. Congrats to the happy couple!
