In addition to the Pride parades happening around the U.S. at various points this month, Washington, D.C. and 50 other cities held an "Equality March for Unity and Pride" on Sunday, June 11 to protest the Trump administration's neglect toward LGBTQ issues, CNN reports.
The event was modeled after the Women's March on Washington, the Washington Blade reports. Its goal is "mobilizing LGBTQ+ communities, our loved ones and our allies – with particular focus on those who have been actively silenced and neglected – in the fight to affirm and protect our rights, our safety and our full humanity," according to its Facebook page.
People crowded around the White House with rainbow flags and protest signs.
