Gigi Hadid stole the show at Moschino Spring 2022 Ready-to-Wear runway — and not for the reason you may think.
Created by Jeremy Scott, the collection — titled "Ladies Who Lunch" —was inspired by youthful tea parties and childhood toys. At the helm of Moschino for years now, Jeremy has become known for his wild and kitschy ideas that bring some much-needed joy to the runway. And his latest show, which took place on September 9, was no exception.
Gigi both opened and closed the show, as is to be expected by someone of such runway caliber. But it wasn't her fierceness that caught the attention of the audience; rather, it was the giant baby bottle she held in hand as she strutted that catwalk.
She closed the show in a fitted dress complete with an exaggerated elephant arm — yes, literally — that, as a whole, appeared to be a high fashion baby blanket. To accessorize the look, Jeremy sent Gigi out with yellow platform heels and a giant baby bottle in hand. It's unclear whether the bottle operated as a purse, a wallet, or was solely an accessory for play. But either way, in its hilarity, it stole the show. (Thanks greatly to Gigi's theatrical chops).
Another standout from the show was Aaron Rose Philip, who made her Moschino runway debut after appearing in her first major high fashion campaign with the brand last year. She wore a yellow two-piece set with a matching jacket.
Also walking the runway was Precious Lee, a trailblazer for the curve community, who wore a belted pink trench coat with giant yellow cats along the hem.
All in all, Moschino's Spring 2022 Ready-to-Wear collection was perhaps less ready to wear, and more ready to smile. While we may never see the fashionistas of New York wearing such attire on a regular basis, one thing is for certain: We could have never predicted that a baby bottle would be the standout star.
