Glen Powell’s rescued puppy Brisket is taking over the internet. Just days after attending the U.S. premiere of Twisters alongside the Anyone But You actor wearing a dashing bow tie, Brisket has now officially landed his first major U.S. cover story, and we are obsessed.

On July 15, Entertainment Weekly rolled out a special Twisters cover featuring Glen Powell holding his rescue pup Brisket in honor of the film’s premiere on July 19, 2024.

In an accompanying write-up, Powell waxed poetic about Brisket’s adoption. Powell told EW that he “always wanted a dog,” and he got the push to finally go for it after “going through a breakup.”

Powell adopted Brisket, an old terrier poodle mix, from the Labelle Foundation in the middle of filming Twisters. He announced the adoption last July on Instagram, writing, “It’s a ruff world out there, so I thought it was about time I hire a proper bodyguard… Meet Brisket — 1.5 pounds of raw power. I can’t wait to tackle all the adventures of life with this guy!”

“[Getting a dog] was something I thought about a lot, but it was somewhere in this coffee shop in Enid.... I don't even know how to describe it; I just had the desire to be a father,” Powell told EW. That’s when fate did its thing, and Powell landed upon a picture of Brisket on Instagram. He immediately rallied his friends to vouch for him to ensure the adoption would go through.

"I literally messaged saying, 'Please put in a good word for me. I sent them a heartbreakingly depressing video of me why I needed this dog,” he shared. The outreach panned out, and the next thing he knew, he took a weekend off filming and was en route to L.A. to pick up Brisket.

"I felt like literally a new father, where I wasn't sleeping while shooting this movie,” Powell shared, admitting he was spending half his time working and half his time crate training Brisket.

During filming, Brisket would sit in Powell’s chair and just sleep, the actor shared. “I had the most adorable picture of Brisket in my Twisters chair at the rodeo. But he really became sort of a set mascot on that movie. It's just adorable."

Elsewhere in the interview, Powell opened up about Brisket being a "magical gift,” saying he’s forever grateful for "the way that he brings me so much joy, and brings everybody around me joy."

"Sets can be very lonely places and it's interesting when you see a dog that's just filling you up with love,” he added. “It brings a cast together even more. There's something wonderful about animals, about how they can bring our walls down a bit and expedite friendships and things like that. So yeah, Brisket's been amazing. I consider him the best special feature of Twisters."

While this is the first time Powell has properly opened up about Brisket at length, it’s not the first time the dashing canine has fronted a glossy. Back in May, Powell and Brisket covered British GQ’s Hype together. “Brisket’s gone international,” Powell captioned his post promoting the interview, but the global domination really starts now.
