Cher had a little mix-up—and Sounwave saved it

It wouldn't be the Grammys without some chaos, and the 2026 dose came via legendary singer Cher. During the ceremony, Cher was in charge of presenting the award for Record of the Year. However, after receiving a surprise Lifetime Achievement award, Cher forgot the purpose of her being onstage and attempted to walk off without presenting the nominees. After being ushered by Noah to return to the stage for her duties, Cher had another mix-up. While reading the cue card for the winner, Kendrick Lamar's “Luther,” the star only read Luther Vandross as the winner's name.

Now, Luther Vandross died in 2005, but he is credited on “Luther” as the hit track famously samples his and Cheryl Lynn's version of Marvin Gaye and Tammi Terrell's track “If This World Were Mine.” Fret not, because Sounwave came to Cher's rescue and actually shouted out the late Vandross in their acceptance speech, and then Lamar also took it in stride. Icons make no mistakes!

The impact of Bad Bunny's DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS was undeniable from the minute it was released in January 2025, and it was rightfully recognized with the Album of the Year award, the most coveted award of the night, at the Grammys 2026. Bad Bunny's AOTY win is historic, as it marks the first time a Spanish-language album has won AOTY in Grammy history. The star celebrated the win by delivering a speech in Spanish.

“Puerto Rico, believe me when I say we are way bigger than 100x35, and there's nothing we can't achieve. Thank God, thanks to the Academy, and thank you to every single person who has believed in me throughout my career, and to everyone who worked on this album. Thank you, Mom, for giving birth to me in Puerto Rico. I love you," the artist said in Spanish, before switching to English momentarily.
