Hailey Bieber is once again trying to stop negativity from spreading across social media. On June 13, the Rhode founder took to her Instagram stories to share yet another message asking her followers to refrain from posting mean comments on social media.
Hailey Bieber's message featured the classic white lettering over a black background we've grown accustomed to for stern messages from celebrities. Though she did not specify the motive for her statement, many have interpreted it to be related to her "drama" with Selena Gomez, which the two have been denying for months.
"If you're leaving mean or rude comments on my behalf on anyone's posts, just know that I don't want that, nor do I ever or will I ever support or condone hateful, mean, or nasty comments," the post read. "Doing that is not supporting me. If you are participating in that, you are a part of a culture that I want no part of. Please be nice, or don't say anything."
People speculates that Bieber's new message could be related to an overwhelming amount of hate comments being left in one of Gomez's most recent Instagram post, which sees the singer and Rare Beauty founder donning a knitted Christian Dior top in Paris.
The slide was deleted shortly after it was uploaded, though Bieber likely still stands by the message as it's a sentiment that both she and Gomez have reiterated on their social accounts time and time again, especially in recent months as new "feuds" dominate headlines.
Back in March, Gomez posted a similar message to fans after Bieber contacted her saying she was receiving relentless hateful comments, including death threats, from her fans. "This isn't what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I've always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop," the OMITB star wrote at the time.
Bieber, who recently admitted 2023 has been one of the "saddest, hardest" years of her life, thanked Gomez for speaking out and echoed her feelings shortly after with her own post. "I want to thank Selena for speaking out, as her and I have been discussing the last few weeks how to move past this ongoing narrative between her and I," she wrote. “The last few weeks have been very hard for everyone involved and millions of people are seeing so much hate around this, which is extremely harmful.”
Maybe it's high time we listened to what our faves actually want.
