Ever since the launch of her beauty brand rhode, Hailey Bieber has continuously dropped new editions of their popular Peptide Lip Treatment. Up until now, the new versions have been centered around the flavoring of the formula — like the most recent strawberry glaze treatment in collaboration with Krispy Kreme.

Now, rhode has a new rendition of the fan-favorite product, a Peptide Lip Tint. This two-in-one product aims to simultaneously hydrate and add a subtle hue to the lips, making it the brand’s first-ever pigmented product. For their introduction to the color-cosmetics territory, the brand is going for a “sheer-but-buildable” gloss. The line has four shades: the sheer pink “Ribbon,” rosy taupe “Toast,” deep berry “Raspberry Kelly,” and rich brown “Espresso.” Like the original Peptide Lip Treatment, the Peptide Lip Tint retails for $16.

Most important of all, you’re probably wondering, “does it work?” To find out, three Teen Vogue editors put Hailey Bieber's rhode Peptide Lip Tints to the test. Below, we give our unfiltered thoughts on the new products’ wearability, finish, tint and more.

I love the way this lip tint makes my lips look. The colors are pigmented but not too much and of course, the glossy finish it gives off is amazing. I feel like this product helps to accentuate my natural pout, but if you’re looking for a super plump finish, this may not be the right pick for you. The formula includes a bunch of vitamins like E, D, A, which help to hydrate and moisturize dry skin. It will treat chapped lips right away, but you will have to reapply it throughout the day to keep your lips from drying out. Hot Tip: Line your lips with a liner that’s a few shades darker than your favorite hue to define the lips and then fill them in with the tint!

I’ve been using the rhode Peptide Lip Treatment in Salted Caramel for the last few months, so I’m deep in the beauty cult. I wasn’t a huge fan originally because I felt like the product wasn’t actually moisturizing, but I kept at it and have been pleasantly surprised. Now, I’ve been testing out the lip tint specifically in the shade “Ribbon” and I love it. It applies very smoothly and feels great on my lips. It also adds a great shine similar to a lip gloss without the sticky commitment of one. I’m a serial over-applier when it comes to lip products and I tend to put layer on top of layer throughout the day. With certain products this can create terrible build up which I hate. With Rhode, I haven’t had that issue. Color also is something I’m fearful of. As a dark skin Black woman, bright pink scares me. I don’t like anything that might make my lips look like they’re chalky. But this pink is perfect and comes across my lips more transparent with a pinky edge that matches my natural lip color. It’s now become my go-to choice of the bunch and I’m excited to implement the other colors down the line.

Ever since I saw Aiyana wear the Rhode Peptide Lip Treatment, I needed it. It looked so amazing on her, and since trying it out myself, I’ve been super satisfied with it as well. Of course, it’s not as moisturizing as Vaseline or Aquaphor right off the bat, but it’s great for keeping your lips soft and smooth throughout the day. Plus, the glossy finish completely illuminates the whole face and completes any makeup look with an ultra glam feel. So, when I heard there was a Peptide Lip Tint, I was so excited. I was a little hesitant about the shades and how well they would show up, especially because they are sheer, but I was pleasantly surprised and found that a little lip liner helped give it a boost. I did think that “Ribbon” was the most sheer for me, but it still would be great for a soft glam or a daytime look. “Raspberry Jelly” and “Espresso” are more pigmented, but still have a subtle look to them which I love. My favorite was definitely “Toast” because the shade is so unique and flattering. It’s somewhere between a nude and a rose with a great level of pigmentation, so it's great for fall. All the shades also have the same glossy finish as the Peptide Lip Treatment, so you can get that ultra glam look for any occasion now. And after a few days of continued use, my lips felt like they would stay softer and smoother for longer even after I removed my makeup, so patience and consistency are key here because the long-term results are worth it.
