Halle Bailey welcomed her first child, a son named Halo, at the end of 2023 — now that the news is out, she is sharing a behind-the-scenes peek at her gorgeous underwater maternity photo shoot with fans.
It should come as no surprise that the The Little Mermaid star went with an aquatic theme for her pics, given she spent a lot of time in the water (both real and CGI) to play Princess Ariel in the 2023 live-action remake. Bailey kept her pregnancy private, both ignoring rumors and outright responding to fans' pregnancy speculation, so this is the first time we're seeing her bump; she wore lots of loose-fitting pieces to hide her pregnancy while participating in multiple press engagements for The Color Purple.
“Missing my belly already,” Bailey wrote in the caption of her Instagram Reel, a mashup of special moments from her maternity photo shoot. In the clips, she wears both a sheer, flowing white gown and a shiny metallic two-piece skirt set with her locs floating gracefully behind her. The images are stunning, and she looks every bit the mermaid while moving through the water. Bailey emoji-winked at her Ariel-inspired shoot, writing, “I obviously had to do underwater pics.” We'd expect nothing less from the princess herself.
Halle Bailey and her boyfriend, rapper DDG, revealed the newest addition to their family on January 6, posting a photo of the baby's teeny tiny hand and a gold bracelet reading his name: Halo. (A piece of jewelry dad DDG later revealed Auntie Chlöe bought for her nephew.)
“Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son… welcome to the world my halo,” Bailey shared. “The world is desperate to know you.” Baby Halo is probably enjoying lots of “Part of Your World” lullabies — lucky kid.
