Halle Bailey and her boyfriend DDG are officially new parents! The pair, who have been romantically linked since January 2022, confirmed in an Instagram post on January 6 that they welcomed a son named Halo.
“Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo,” Bailey wrote in the caption. “The world is desperate to know you.”

Halle Bailey becoming a mom comes after months of speculation. Rumors of the Grammy-nominated star potentially being pregnant started circulating earlier this year, a few months after promotions for The Little Mermaid wrapped in late May.
In the summer, many online theorized Bailey could have started donning looser-fitting clothes to hide her growing belly. Halle Bailey and her sister Chlöe were spotted at Beyoncé's Renaissance tour stop in Atlanta in August; while Chlöe donned a midriff-bearing 'fit, Halle opted for a loose dress shirt from Valentino. In September, she wore a flowing dress to the 2023 MTV VMAs, further fueling the rumors.
Speculation was at an all-time high as Bailey jetted across the world to Europe to attend various fashion weeks, also donning more discreet, looser styles.
However, rumors seemingly came to a halt at Milan Fashion Week, where Bailey sported a yellow shirt dress with a tightly cinched belt at the waist.
It wasn't until October 2023, when new pictures of Bailey and DDG exiting a medical facility in Santa Monica started circulating online that rumors piqued once again. The pictures showed Bailey, with a rather noticeable baby bump, wearing an oversized hoodie and sweatpants. Many took these pictures as confirmation of the pregnancy there and then, but it's worth noting that the couple did not comment on them or intend them to be a confirmation.
Ever since she stepped into the limelight as a tween, Halle Bailey has been pretty reserved about her private life, so it's no surprise that she decided to wait until her son had arrived to go public with the news. In fact, the star has also been pretty tight-lipped about her relationship with DDG as a whole, only giving the public rare glimpses of their dynamics in the occasional TikTok and interview. When asked about her relationship with the budding rapper while promoting The Little Mermaid, Bailey told Glamour that she purposely kept her romantic life private “for [her] peace and [her] sanity.”
"It's really funny how people look at you [as] still being this young girl, still being this innocent, untouchable thing," Bailey told the publication. "I appreciate that as I venture into adulthood, I'm able to make my own decisions." She echoed the sentiment in an interview with Essence the year prior, saying: "People have seen me grow up, so of course they might have something to say about how I feel or what I do with my life," she said. “I just choose not to read it. I ignore the naysayers and follow my own heart and intuition.”
Speaking to People in May 2023, Bailey said that "the best thing about young love is that you're able to continue to find yourself through this journey of loving somebody else, and you're discovering new parts of yourself and maybe things that you didn't notice before about your heart." She continued, "I feel like things change when love gets more involved in your life. I have definitely discovered more within myself as a woman… It's a really cool thing to go through, but a transformative experience."
