Harry Styles's Tattoos Had to Be Covered for "My Policeman"

“I’d look at myself with no tattoos and be like, ‘look at this boring *ss body.’”

How many tattoos does Harry Styles have? We’re not sure about the exact number, but what we do know is how much time it takes for a makeup artist to cover them all up.

On May 17, Harry Styles’ visited the Howard Stern show as a part of promotions for his upcoming album, Harry’s House, and chatted with the radio host about a multitude of topics. In addition to speaking out over the recent attacks on civil rights in the United States, Harry also dove into his recent experiences as a film actor — a tattooed actor, no less.

When detailing his time on set for the upcoming film My Policeman, Harry revealed what the process of getting into character is actually like – including how long it takes to get his abundance of tattoos fully covered up for the role. “I think it was about two hours,” he said. “I’d come in early and basically just sit there in like a gas mask while they kind of sprayed stuff.” Stuff, meaning super high coverage foundation, probably.

Harry admitted the process included multiple layers and joked that "luckily there’s none on [his] back so that [feels] like a brief moment of solace." When recounting the tale, the star also revealed that seeing himself without tattoos for the first time in years was a bit bizarre. “I’d look at myself with no tattoos and be like, ‘look at this boring *ss body,’” he joked. (Hey, it might be weird for fans to see in the film, too, after nearly a decade of showing off his body art.)

Tattoo lovers shouldn't worry though, because Harry isn’t letting his acting career stop him from getting new ink. “I’ll probably get some more,” Harry confessed to Howard. "I go through long stretches of not getting any and then I’ll get a couple at a time. I haven’t thought about getting any recently."

Thankfully, Howard confirmed something that some of Harry's fans might be concerned about: face tattoos? Not part of his vision. “I don’t think I would go for the face," the star admitted. Nothing on that precious face, please, Harry!
