Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams is calling on voters to get to the polls this November and vote against former president Donald Trump.
The band performed during night one of the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 20, drawing in a massive crowd to the T-Mobile Arena, and made sure to send a message to the Republican presidential candidate. Before Paramore started into their scathing song called “Big Man, Little Integrity," Williams stood directly in front of the camera and delivered a pointed message: vote.
“Project 2025 is Donald Trump's playbook for the controlling and punishing of women, poor people, people of color, and the LGBTQ+ community,” Williams said, in fan footage captured from the performance. Project 2025 is an initiative that outlines the modern conservative agenda and details plans for a potential second Trump presidency. Though it was created by several Trump allies and former staffers, and echoes many of his beliefs, the former president has denied his involvement in the extremist playbook.
“It is time for all Americans to band together and to finally defeat the Trump agenda," Williams continued. "And the only way to do that is by confronting him at the polls. Do you want to live in a dictatorship? Well, show up and VOTE!”
Hayley Williams has never shied away from getting political, especially on stage. The singer has used her platform several times to stand against racism, anti-LGBTQ+ laws including anti-trans rhetoric, and fascism. Williams shared a statement last year via Instagram calling out two bills passed in her home state of Tenessee that target drag performers and gender-affirming care.
“Drag is not a crime. Gender-affirming health care for all, including our youth, is a necessity,” Williams wrote at the time. “Once again our state has passed two regressive and unfathomably harmful bills. We stand in solidarity with our LGBTQIA+ family and local LGBTQIA+ orgs in this fight, not only for inclusion for our friends & family in the queer community, but for radical acceptance and empowerment for each of them.”
While performing in Washington, D.C. last year, Paramore brought out Florida Rep. Maxwell Frost (D) to perform “Misery Business” while also screaming “F*ck [Florida Gov.] Ron DeSantis!” Williams had also said at their previous show last year, “If you vote for Ron DeSantis, you're f***ing dead to me.”
