Heartstopper stars Kit Connor and Tobie Donovan have made their way stateside to support costar Joe Locke during his Broadway run — and they made sure fans got a peek at their reunion with the sweetest post on social media.
ICYMI: Joe Locke, who plays Charlie on the hit Netflix show, is currently portraying Tobias Ragg in the revival of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street on Broadway, and of course, his costars couldn't miss the chance to see him perform live.
Kit Connor and Tobie Donovan, who play Nick and Isaac on Heartstopper, made their way to the U.S. to support Locke almost two months into his first Broadway venture. Locke's Broadway run on Sweeney Todd started back in January; the role was previously played by Daniel Marconi, Nathan Salstone, and Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo.
On March 17, Connor took to social media to immortalize the trio’s reunion. "Well done sweetheart,” he wrote on his Instagram stories over the picture, which showed them posing between the audience stalls. Donovan reposted the photo to his account, writing: "My eyes are still puffy from all the crying." Locke also reciprocated the love and reposted the image, adding: “My boys.”
It looks like Locke, Connor, and Donovan have been keeping good company in between Broadway functions. Jordan Fisher, who also did Sweeney Todd on Broadway, commented under Connor's most recent Instagram feed post, which just so happens to be a picture with Donovan from NYE, writing: “It was such a pleasure meeting both of you sweet people today 💜 Give [Joe Locke] some extra love for me down at the pie shoppe!”
It also looks like the trio is doing some sightseeing together while Connor and Donovan visit Locke in New York City. The day after attending the show, Locke posted an Instagram story showing the three actors crossing the streets of Manhattan. “Gay Beatles. Just need our Willy,” the star captioned the post, tagging fellow Heartstopper actor Will Gao, who plays Tao. Donovan also reposted the story to his IG. (The biggest mystery right now is who took this pic?)
The trio's NYC reunion comes as fans prepare for the release of Heartstopper season 3, which is expected to premiere on Netflix later this year. According to Variety, filming for the long-anticipated third season wrapped in December 2023 in the U.K. before Locke set sail for the U.S. to step into Tobias's shoes. The last update we have from the show is that Bridgerton's Jonathan Bailey has seemingly joined the cast in a guest-starring role.
