Ice Spice is bringing a surprising 2010s trend back to the red carpet. The rapper is known for her love of all things Y2K, but for the 2024 People's Choice Awards, she looked to the slightly more recent past for inspiration and opted for a pair of leopard-print tights.
Printed tights, in general, were a mainstay of the “indie sleaze” era of the late 2000s and early 2010s, as was leopard print. (This writer definitely owned a pair of black leopard print tights around that time.) Ice Spice wore her brown and tan printed pair not with an American Apparel minidress but underneath a tangerine orange lace duster coatdress with a Mongolian lamb fur collar, paired with a matching leopard print bra and leopard print ankle-strap sandals that practically disappear into the pattern of the tights. (Her look was Dolce & Gabbana.)
She might have given a 2010s trend a 2024 update, but Ice Spice kept it pretty simple with her glam and her accessories, given the bright orange color of her coat and the leopard-on-leopard of it all.
She rocked a black manicure, her signature orange curls, and minimal jewelry — just a necklace, earrings, and a slim band around her middle finger. In true Ice Spice fashion, the full look was a little cheeky, a little retro, and so much fun. Yes, you can wear leopard print from head to toe, and you should!
Leopard print never really goes out of style, of course; the quote “Leopard print is a neutral” has been attributed to everyone from Christian Dior to Jenna Lyons. However, it's experienced quite a resurgence so far this year, given the indie sleaze revival and the trending "mob wife aesthetic, and Ice Spice's stamp of approval means we're probably going to be seeing even more animal print in 2024.
