Emma Stone's new movie Irrational Man seems like it's going to be a doozy. In the trailer, Emma plays a college student who ends up getting involved with her emotionally-complex philosophy professor, played by Joaquin Phoenix. With hints of a love triangle and some deep soul-searching featured in the two-minute teaser alone, we have a feeling the film might not be something to pick for a regular, light-hearted movie night.
We know by now Emma can play almost any role. She brought the laughs in Easy A and showcased her dramatic chops in The Help, but this new movie is a little different from anything she's done before. Directed by Woody Allen, the tone of the movie is a bit indie and more artsy than her previous parts.
While her complex love interest in this flick is a far cry from Ryan Gosling in Crazy, Stupid, Love., we're glad to see Emma Stone flexing her acting muscles even more. Girl's got range!
