Jacob Elordi might want to check on his arteries after going full method acting to prepare for the role of Elvis Presley.

In a recent discussion with Entertainment Weekly, Elordi sat alongside Priscilla director Sofia Coppola and co-star Cailee Spaeny to discuss the making of the A24 film. Coppola at one point revealed that Elordi got into his Elvis character by mimicking the rock ‘n’ roll legend's infamous bad eating habits.

“You ate a lot of bacon,” Coppola said to Elordi. “Priscilla [Presley] told us that Elvis liked really burnt bacon."

Elordi agreed and reiterated, “I ate a lot of bacon.”

“I averaged like a pound of bacon a day,” he continued. “It's not that noticeable because I'm quite long, but I was the biggest I've ever been.”

Spaeny, who plays Priscilla in the film, then brought up Elvis Presley's famous “Fool's Gold” sandwich that the singer enjoyed. The sandwich was said to have been a full loaf of sourdough bread, peanut butter, jelly, and bacon.

“Priscilla told me that because they were so poor, that they would just live off peanut butter and banana sandwiches. So when he was more successful, like, it reminded him of being a kid,” Coppola said.

Elordi has been praised by both critics and the real-life Priscilla Presley for his depiction of Elvis — including his distinct twang accent. Elordi said he ignored “the mythology” surrounding the artist and instead tried to find “where the real person lies” when preparing to play Elvis. Coppola also said that Priscilla Presley gave Elordi's Elvis accent the stamp of approval and “couldn't believe how Jacob's voice” sounded exactly like her ex-husband.

Priscilla is based on Priscilla Presley's 1985 memoir Elvis and Me about her tumultuous time married to the musician, their divorce, and up until his death in 1977. Coppola said she was inspired to create the film because many fans know of Elvis and Priscilla being a “legendary couple,” but aren't familiar with the latter's unique perspective.

Priscilla is in theaters everywhere.
