She might play a psychic in Netflix's Wednesday, but IRL Jenna Ortega is taking style notes from two other equally chic mythical creatures.
At SXSW, the actor channelled the office siren trend and gave it a vampy twist for the premiere of Death of a Unicorn. She wore a suit set with a matching black, brown, blue, and white plaid blazer and pants set. Underneath she layered a wine red button-up top and matching tie for a monochromatic effect. She accessorized with a pair of black pumps and silver drop and hoop earrings. Committing to the office siren aesthetic, she carried a pair of narrow oval sunglasses, complete with matching red frames to match her shirt and tie.
Ortega also incorporated vampy vibes with her hair and makeup. She opted for cloud base makeup and contrasted it with red hues, keeping the color coordination in her look. She wore a soft red on her cheeks and the crease of her eyeshadow, which was accentuated with some glitter.
Instead of opting for siren eyeliner, she went with a soft and smokey reverse winged eyeliner and fanned out eyelashes to complete the look. Taking things a step further, she also brought the red to her nails and hair. You might miss it at first glance, but her long dark hair actually has a subtle cherry red tint. She tied it in a sleek low updo, parted to the side with her bangs hanging in soft loose waves. (TBD on whether the change is permanent but we have a feeling it's not and she was just committed to this look!)
The office siren aesthetic gained momentum last year on TikTok. It’s partly because many are returning to the office following the COVID-19 hybrid work practice ending, but also the resurgence of ‘90s trends and beloved films like The Devil Wears Prada inspiring fans' wardrobes. Other celebs to rock the office siren aesthetic include Hailey Bieber and Bella Hadid. With the return of 2017-inspired makeup, vampy hues like Ortega’s are also becoming more popular again. Case in point: ColourPop’s recent Twilight and New Moon collections featuring plenty of dark reds and purples.
So, it seems like Ortega was able to hit a couple of trends and make them her own all at once. This vampy office siren is taking notes.
