South Korean K-pop group Tomorrow X Together (TXT) will be taking an extended break in the new year.

On December 10, 2024, BigHit Music announced TXT's "long-term break" with a short statement posted via the fan community platform Weverse. In the post, the company confirmed the quintet will temporarily halt all activities after the 39th Golden Disc Awards, which are slated to take place in Fukuoka, Japan, on January 5, 2025.

"Following their schedule at the 39th Golden Disc Awards on January 5 (KST), Tomorrow X Together will conclude their activities for 2024 and embark on a long-term break," the statement reads. “During this time, the members plan to spend quality moments with their families and take time to rest, preparing to return to MOA with an extraordinary 2025 ahead.”

News of the break comes just a couple of weeks after member Soobin announced his individual hiatus back on November 20, citing health reasons. "Soobin recently exhibited signs of being unwell and visited the hospital for medical attention. The medical staff have advised that he would need sufficient time to rest and recover," BigHit Music shared at the time.

TXT first debuted in 2019 with their EP The Dream Chapter: Star. Most recently, the group released their seventh EP, The Star Chapter: Sanctuary, in November. This will mark their first extended break in the six years since their debut.

Though the explicit length of the break is TBA, the announcement did state that the group “will come back with an even more remarkable presence to show their gratitude for MOA's love.” For reference, back in 2019, TXT's labelmates BTS announced a similar "extended period of rest and relaxation." The septet announced the temporary hiatus in August and resumed activities in September.

In a follow-up announcement, BigHit Music also confirmed that the functions of TXT's Weverse DM will remain active during the break period so that “MOAs can continue to send rooting messages to the TXT members.”
