The celebrity Halloween costumes are here, and the internet is currently obsessing over KATSEYE’s Mariah Carey group costume. Halloween, notably, is a time where our favorite music artists, actors, and influencers pull out every stop to recreate a sometimes niche meme or viral cultural moment. So, it was no surprise our favorite chronically online Gen Z girl group made their first official Halloween dress-up moment a nod to an online meme of themselves.
This past September, Mariah Carey took home the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard award at the VMAs. But before Carey even got onstage to accept her award, it was a carpet moment with KATSEYE that led to a viral joke amongst the girl group’s fans. When asked by a red carpet interviewer what their favorite Mariah Carey music video was, the group hesitated a little before Lara shared that she loved the songs “Obsessed” and “My All.” The rest of the girls laughed and said that there were so many to choose from, which led to Eyekons poking fun at the girls, claiming that they didn’t know any of the music videos.

Fast forward to Halloween week and we have their first costume. Manon wore a floor-length wedding dress similar to Carey’s “We Belong Together” music video. Sophia wore a white matching two piece set from the video “Honey.” Daniela wore denim shorts with a black crop top, hoodie, and roller skates similar to Carey’s music video, “Fantasy.” Lara wore a cutout snakeskin minidress from the video “Obsessed.” Megan wore a pair of low-rise denim jeans and a fringe pink crop top from Carey’s “Heartbreaker.” And Yoonchae wore a red Santa Claus jumpsuit in line with Carey’s “All I want for Christmas Is You” music video.

The girls clearly know how to poke fun at themselves because they also posted another Halloween costume wearing a rainbow cropped shirt and white micro shorts using one of their viral sounds where they said, “We love the gays.” Halloween is the perfect time, especially for celebrities, to make cheeky costumes out of some of their viral interviews. And we can’t wait to see what else KATSEYE pulls out for the remainder of the week.
