Is that Kendall Jenner or my shower loofah? I kid, I kid! The model brought pompom chic to Paris at the Jacquemus show at Chateau de Versailles, hitting the runway wrapped in a cloud of fluffy fabric and 0 percent pants.
There's a lot to unpack in this pants-free moment, so let's settle in and get started. The show, titled "Le Chouchou," was inspired by Princess Diana and Marie Antoinette (hence the Versailles setting), and while the late Princess of Wales probably wouldn't have worn a high-fashion mini cloud dress with diaper-esque bloomers, Jenner's sleek chignon, drop earrings and collar necklace are definitely giving Di.
The dress (if you can call it a dress?) was an off-the-shoulder confection that billowed out like a pouf of cotton candy, ending at Jenner's hips like a micro-, micro-, micro-mini. Underneath the pouf, she wore a matching undie that blended in perfectly with the voluminous pompom silhouette but did look a bit like a couture diaper.
On her feet were matching white square-toe heels with lace details and delicate straps, and her nails were painted a chic red for that royal vibe. She looks like she could just get up and float away into the sky to join the cloud people, but she actually got a ride in a golf cart from her pal and fellow model Gigi Hadid, who also walked in the show.
We shouldn't be surprised by this Kendall pants-free moment, given that the model has quite a history of skipping said garment. In November 2022, she ditched pants for tights and Bottega Veneta panties, and at the 2023 Met Gala, she posed on the carpet in a Marc Jacobs bodysuit with oversized sleeves and mega platforms, no pants in sight.
Will the cloud couture look catch on with the general public? It's not exactly the thing you'd wear to the grocery store, and it may get a mixed reception at a wedding, but there's a time and a place for dressing like a shower loofah... I guess? If anyone can pull this divisive look off, it's Kendall, our pantsless queen.
