Met Gala 2017: Kendall Jenner Accused of Copying Rose McGowan's VMAs Dress

Fans are seeing double.

At Monday night’s Met Gala, Kendall Jenner shocked crowds in the most revealing dress at the event: a completely see-through black gown by La Perla. Almost immediately, Kendall started receiving backlash for the look, with some very wrongly slut-shaming her for showing skin. The other side of the critique, however, involves the origin about the look. On Twitter, some users pointed out that Kendall’s dress looks very similar to the outfit that ’90s icon Rose McGowan famously wore to the MTV VMAs in 1998.

Clearly, both dresses are similar in that they're totally see-through and black but of course, there are major differences as well. Even though we know Kendall loves to borrow from ’90s and ’00s stars — remember her Paris Hilton birthday dress? — it’s not as though Kendall designed the look herself. We like to think that this is a modernized tribute to an iconic style. Plus, just like Rose did in the ’90s, Kendall looks pretty badass in this ensemble.
