Lil Nas X isn't known for making safe fashion choices. The rapper's larger-than-life performances and equally boisterous styles have added to his allure as a musician, and during this year's New York Fashion Week, he took a more chic approach.

Lil Nas X stepped out to attend Coach's Spring 2024 runway show and afterparty on Thursday night held at the New York Public Library in Manhattan. The rapper wore a more subdued look compared to his past outfits but still remained as trendy as ever. Lil Nas X opted for a long white leather skirt with a matching cropped jacket over a sheer high-neck shirt. He also added a silver belly chain around his bare mid-drift (he has abs, of course). Lil Nas X had white sunglasses on hand that he wore on and off throughout the night.

The maxi skirt recently made a comeback and is reminiscent of the late 90s, and early 2000s. Many brands and celebrities have embraced the mid-length to long hemlines, and Coach is no exception. The brand has leaned into Y2K style — including bringing back one of its most iconic patterned bags.

Gender-bending style has become the new wave in fashion in recent years, with many men opting for skirts, dresses, and handbags. Harry Styles and Jacob Elordi are just two examples of stars bending the fashion rules for men. Lil Nas X is famously in tune with what's popular online and in style, including making a statement at the Met Gala.

The Coach fashion show brought in the biggest celebrities and influencers, and a little bit of drama. Animal rights group PETA orchestrated a protest during Thursday's runway show but sneaking in two of its members who then walked the runway. One demonstrator held a sign that read, “Coach: Leather Kills.” The second one wore body paint that read the same message. In a statement confirming the organization's demonstration, PETA's Vice President Tracy Reiman said, “PETA is shaking up Coach’s catwalk to drive home the message that leather belongs in the annals of history, not in designers’ current collections.”
