There's nothing quite like the shock that comes with shattering your favorite pressed powder, highlighter, or eyeshadow palette. And as it turns out, it's a struggle that Lili Reinhart herself knows all too well.
On June 17, the Riverdale actor shared the relatable experience to her Instagram Story, posting a video of her Bobbi Brown Shimmer Brick, which had shattered into a million pieces. (CYO Bronzing & Highlighting Palette Shimmer Switch is a great $4.25 dupe for Lili's go-to highlighter, just saying.) It's a sad sight to behold, and one that is likely familiar to many makeup enthusiasts.
However, instead of tossing the $48 compact in the garbage — or crushing the rest and giving the product new life as a loose powder — Lili got to work in carefully putting the pieces back together. "Omg I am a puzzle master," she wrote alongside a story of the newly reassembled blush, which looked pretty good considering that moments before, it was a mess of powdery chunks. Needless to say, we're seriously impressed.
While Lili didn't share details on how she managed to fix her broken makeup, there's one fool-proof hack for fixing your makeup that makeup artists and beauty lovers swear by: Simply add a few drops of rubbing alcohol (which you can find at your local pharmacy) into the shattered pieces, let it soak in for a few seconds, then carefully press the pieces back together using your finger or a spoon. Leave the mixture to fully dry overnight, and by morning, it should be good as new. (Note: This fix works best on single shades of powder cosmetics, but that's not to say that you can't try it out with something like Lili's striped blush for a marbleized effect.)
As for instances where your crushed a powder is beyond repair? Not to worry — you can simply mix the remains into your favorite moisturizer to give your skin an instant glow, or with a sheer lip balm or gloss for an extra boost of shimmer.
