As Belly on The Summer I Turned Pretty, Lola Tung has us accustomed to coquettercore outfits galore (and a side dose of red lipstick), but in real life, the actor's fashion choices veer more edgy.
In the past few months alone, Tung has gifted us multiple moodboard-worthy looks — from a super-chic take on the Canadian tuxedo courtesy of vintage Stella McCartney to a fun and modern scarf as an overskirt moment, and even Y2K-inspired looks rounded off by indie and edgy Italian jewelry picks.
As Tung's star grows, so does her fashion portfolio, and with every stylish step she takes, she carries a bag that you'd want to add to your collection. With affordable luxury, classic takes, and budget-friendly everyday picks, Lola Tung's bag collection is the perfect mix of style if you are looking to upgrade your own stash.
Below, we have broken down eight of our favorite bags that Tung has ever worn, along with other styles she has approved of, to help you find the perfect one for you.
1. A briefcase-like mini purse
While Tung tends to favor more affordable luxury pieces, she opted for a full Miu Miu look to attend the launch party of the brand's Miutine perfume, and she chose an Arcadie bag for the occasion. A small but spacious rectangle bag, like the Arcadie, is ideal for early dinner dates and work events, especially if it features a detachable shoulder strap and especially if it's in a brown colorway, since it gives off a classic briefcase vibe. If you can afford the Miu Miu, the investment will last you a lifetime since this is indeed a timeless style. If you're looking for something similar, Marge Sherwood has some options that might also convince you.
2. A moon-shaped carryall
We all need a good carryall for when we have a busy day running errands. For Tung, that carryall is the Alter/Ego crescent shoulder bag from Coachtopia. Although Tung is a Coach partner, she has been spotted with this moon-shaped bag more than once, leading us to believe it's truly one of her favorites. The bag, made from grain scraps left over after a Coach Brooklyn Bag has been cut from a leather hide, also comes in a bigger size that's perfect for work and class, as it fits a 15" laptop.
3. Double trouble
Why carry a bag when you can carry two? While doing press for The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3, Tung complemented her denim-on-denim look, rocking two Kate Spade bags that are the perfect, under-$300 addition to any wardrobe. Tung carried the brand's duo crossbody bag, which might be just one of the most versatile bags out there. It can be worn in multiple ways, including as a crossbody, a shoulder bag, a belt bag, or a clutch — all with or without the removable pouch — which makes it perfect for days and nights out.
Tung also carried the Liv Downtown shoulder bag, a great mini statement bag featuring leopard print for those looking to add an edge to their outfits without fully committing to the world of mixing prints, which Olivia Rodrigo has also worn.
4. A slouchy statement bag
If you are tired of sticking to black and brown bags, a white bag like this slouchy one from Kate Spade is a simple but effective way to switch things up. Tung wore this one to the premiere of The Summer I Turned Pretty season 3 and matched it to her Ann Demeulemeester dress and boxing shoes. Take a page from her book and go for the monochrome route or pair yours with white jeans and a black turtleneck for an ultra-chic fall look with a twist.
5. A compact grab-and-go
We all need that one bag that you can grab, put your keys, wallet, and phone inside, and just go. For Tung at the moment, that seems to be the Coachtopia Alter/Ego small slouchy shoulder bag. Part of her full Coach look, this bag is perfect for silver enthusiasts, as it features silver hardware, an interior slip pocket, and a zip closure to keep all your belongings safe and secure. Like the crescent bag from above, this bag is also crafted from soft leather scraps, specifically those left over after cutting a Coach Quilted Tabby Bag.
6. A luxury mini purse
While an everyday little black bag is essential, you also need a fancy little black bag for special occasions. For Tung, that bag is the small Lady Dior, a tiny classic with a Parisian heart that Belly would undoubtedly approve of. You can peruse eBay or TheRealReal to find vintage and secondhand models of the bag, or opt for other similar styles from other brands (or even unbranded vintage) with the same classic sensibility.
7. A pop of color
While Tung tends to gravitate towards black bags, she also adds a pop of color here and there, and tiny bags are the easiest way to dip your toes into a more colorful color palette. For an event in NYC, Tung maximized the colorful palette of her vintage John Galliano-era Dior dress by adding a yellow version of the Kate Spade Liv Shoulder Bag, which she complemented with a playful charm. Take a page from her book and go big and bold with color galore, or keep it balanced with a monochrome look and the clashing bag.
8. A small red bag
If yellow is not your thing, red is pretty much considered a neutral when it comes to bags. It's black, brown, white, and red. Red bags retain a classic nature while also being playful, making them a more timeless and colorful choice. If you don't want to go all the way with a bright red like Tung's Coach Tabby, consider a burgundy. If you love the shape but not the color, fortunately, the Tabby line comes in a variety of sizes, textures, and colors to choose from.
Aside from these eight options, Tung has also given her stamp of approval to a handful of other bags since stepping into the limelight. During her Paris promo trip for The Summer I Turned Pretty show finale (yes, where thee movie was announced), she was spotted with not one but two affordable vegan bag options: a $75 pick from Stand Oil and a $119 pink style from Charles & Keith.
She's also rocked Luar and even more Coach at NYFW, Baggu to pick strawberries with The Summer I Turned Pretty co-star Rain Spencer, and a classic black backpack to walk the picket line at the SAG-AFTRA strike in NYC.
