Louis Vuitton Staged an Epic '70s-Themed Party in the Desert

It’s been less than a month since the fashion set descended upon the California desert for Coachella, and last night they were back again for a very different occasion—Louis Vuitton’s 2016 Resort Show. The fashion-forward crowd included actresses Selena Gomez and Britt Robertson, models like Fernanda Ly, and our favorite real-life pixie, Grimes.

The collection was simultaneously nostalgic and forward thinking, a mix of earthy, ’70s-inspired colors and fabrics cut in modern, post-apocalyptic shapes. Creative director Nicolas Ghesquière cited the iconic films 3 Women, written and directed by Robert Altman, as well as The Hunger, starring David Bowie and Catherine Deneuve, as his inspirations. Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust persona also served as inspiration for the makeup, brought to life by Pat McGrath, who transformed models’ faces into kaleidoscopic masterpieces.

The show was followed by an after-party set in a vintage roller disco set, complete with your favorite arcade games. Grimes spun her favorite old-school tunes as guests danced, drove bumper cars, and fished for LV accessories in the brand’s custom claw machine.
