We can all remember “the dress” debate that divided the internet in 2015, splitting up friends, families, and couples into team “white-and-gold” and team “black-and-blue.” Now, Lucy Hale has presented a wardrobe optical illusion of her own — and it’s left her followers at war with one another over the color of a dress.
The whole thing started when the Pretty Little Liars and Life Sentence star took to Twitter to share a photo of herself at The Unicorn premiere on January 10, wearing a sleeveless patterned dress with fringe on the hem. She paired the cute dress with strappy sandals, and finished off the look with minimal jewelry. But wait — is her dress red, or is it orange?
“Let’s take a poll,” Lucy wrote, adding that she was casting a vote for “orange” herself.

From the replies, it’s apparent that a clear consensus has not been reached. “Girl it’s red😂” one person wrote, with plenty more folks in agreement. Some swore that the dress was orange, while other people tried to meet in the middle by calling it red-orange or blood-orange. TBH, I’ve stared at it for so long now that I forget what red and orange are supposed to even look like.

Despite the ongoing debate, it seems as though we might have an answer. According to the official Instagram for Georges Chakra, the designer of the now-infamous dress, the gown is — drumroll please! — orange. “@lucyhale looked fiery at the premiere of The Unicorn wearing an orange velvet cocktail dress with a color block feathered hem,” the caption read, noting that the gown is from the 2017 Fall-Winter Couture Collection.

Welp, there you have it! Even though no one could agree on the color, there’s one thing we definitely can agree upon: the dress is absolutely gorgeous, and Lucy looked stunning — as always.
