Maxton Hall season three is expected to pickup from where season two left off. The official synopsis by Prime Video is as follows: “Ruby is on the edge: She has been suspended from Maxton Hall College, and all evidence points to James being responsible for her expulsion. A slap in the face that not only endangers Ruby's Oxford dream but also puts their love to a severe test. While Ruby and James do everything to save Ruby's graduation, their environment and James's circle of friends get caught in an emotional whirlwind that completely disrupts the existing order. Ruby and James painfully realize: Their worlds couldn't be further apart, and not everything is as it seems. Can their love and friendships survive the enormous storms while the shadows of the past grow darker?”

So, the main conflicts will be Ruby fighting to get back in Oxford as her dream slips away and James fighting by her side but “the closer they get to the truth, the more it threatens to tear everything apart.” Prime Video has also teases that “friendships are tested and secrets they never expected come to light” in season three.

If you want to get ahead of the story, Prime Video's Maxton Hall is be based on Mona Kasten's best-selling Maxton Hall series. Season one of the show adapted the event from the first book, Save Me. Season two focused on Save You, and season three will focus on the events of the third book, Save Us.

Save Us (Maxton Hall)

“We didn’t want to deviate too much from the book," Damian Hardung told Prime Video at Obsessed Fest, “but I think a beautiful aspect of it is that it really focuses on different character lines this time, and that we have different narrative stories, and I think seeing that and then having all these loose ties connected in the end, that’s a beautiful aspect of having a last and final season.”

Speaking about his character arch from season one to two and going forward, Hardung teased: “I don't wanna lie. It [was] kind of fun in the first season playing the bad boy, I kinda miss that. Having that layer of just something protective over you is almost fun to play cause you don't have to go to these dark places, as in season two. In season two, we've seen him do a lot of mistakes and I think trying to live up to your potential and taking responsibility for your actions. It's probably then the source that really gets him into that place where he can fight back for the love that he truly deserves."

Is Maxton Hall really ending with season three?

Prime Video and the stars of the show are promoting season three as the final season so all signs point to yet. That said, fans are already manifesting some sort of sequel or prequel. The book series wraps nicely after the third instalment but we shall see what the show does differently. At Obsessed Fest, Damian Hardung did tease fans that the season might end with a cliffhanger, which could leave the door open for something else. Lest we forget, Prime Video also marketed season three of The Summer I Turned Pretty as the final instalment of the franchise, only to announce a sequel movie just as the show wrapped. All that's to say, we are going to have to wait until December to know for sure!

This post will be updated as news about Maxton Hall season three breaks. Seasons one and two of the show are now streaming on Prime Video.
