Miley Cyrus is a stunner on every single red carpet that she steps onto, and the Met Gala is certainly no exception. While the head-turning dresser has been known to go nearly nude, both on-stage and off, she tends to keep it a little more refined when it comes to recent red carpet events. That said, it’s just as statement-making as ever, as she proves that you can be high fashion, edgy, couture ready, and a little fun-loving, all at the same time.
Miley has only attended the event twice before (in 2013 and 2015), both times choosing a long black dress that hugs her silhouette, pooling at her feet to keep her choice of footwear one of the best-kept secrets of the night. That said, the first appearance was in a mesh gown from Marc Jacobs, while her second was a studded Alexander Wang turtleneck dress with massive side and back cutouts, so they were certainly anything but basic.
This year, the 25-year-old singer wore a gorgeous black dress from Stella McCartney. The garment was a halter top with a plunging neckline, which showed off her tattoos and sideboob, making for a more risque look on the red carpet compared to some of the other wardrobe selections at the Met Gala. Miley's dress also boasted a train not too long or too short, but long enough to make a statement and require some assistance as she walked around. To embrace the theme of "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination," Miley wore Sydney Evan custom hoops with a large cross, a pyramid spike cross charm, small cross studs, and a pave chain link ring and necklace.
Miley also posted a bunch of photos of herself in the dress to her Instagram, all black-and-white snapshots. The ensemble apparently had a crown as well, but it looks like she left it at home. She shared some of the behind-the-scenes video of the photoshoot to her Instagram Story, which included her taking a bite of a large cross.
