It's that time of year again! With award season in full swing, we're looking forward to the next major show, and it is the MTV Movie Awards! This year, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is leading the list with an incredible 11 nominations (!) including Movie of the Year, Best Female Performance (Daisy Ridley), Best Villain (Adam Driver) and Breakthrough Performance (Ridley and co-star John Boyega). Next in line is Deadpool with eight nominations, including five for Ryan Reynolds himself.
It's also notable that Creed and Straight Outta Compton, two movies whose performances were largely snubbed by the Oscars, earned a whole host of nominations, as did the documentary What Happened, Miss Simone?. While some of the categories mostly feature white nominees, there's definitely more diversity this time around, and that's an important step.
Starting today, ballots are officially open so you can vote for your fave at MovieAwards.MTV.com. While it will be open until Sunday, March 20, fans will be able to vote for the biggest award of the night — Movie of the Year — directly on Google. All you have to do is type "MTV Vote" and take your pick. Check out the rest of the nominees below:
