Grab your popcorn and prepare your voting fingers, because the nominees for the 2019 MTV Movie and TV Awards have officially arrived. Beginning today, fans can vote for nominees in categories including Best Kiss, Best Hero, and Best Movie. And in a year that included the record-breaking theater debut of Avengers: Endgame and marks the conclusion of Game of Thrones, there are plenty of favorites to choose from.
The awards, hosted by Zachary Levi, don't arrive to MTV until June 17 at 9:00 P.M., but fans can start voting today. Along with a return of fan favorite categories, this year's ceremony includes the unveiling of three new awards: Reality Royalty, Most Meme-able Moment and Best Real-Life Hero. Other notable categories include Best Kiss, which features nominations including Camila Mendes and Charles Melton (Veronica Lodge & Reggie Mantle) of Riverdale, Noah Centineo and Lana Condor (Peter Kavinsky & Lara Jean) of To All the Boys I've Loved Before, and Ncuti Gatwa and Connor Swindells (Eric Effiong & Adam Groff) of Sex Education. Riverdale is also nominated for Best Show.
RBG, Game of Thrones and Avengers: Endgame received the most nominations this year, but they have some tough competition. In order to win best film, Avengers: Endgame has to beat out BlacKkKlansman, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before, and Us. Game of Thrones faces off against Riverdale for best show, and its actors are nominated against Kiernan Shipka of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Penn Badgley of You.
We'll have to wait until June to see which of our faves walks home with a popcorn trophy, but if last year's ceremony is any indication, fans are certainly in for a stylish, and adorable night celebrating movies and television.
