Warning: Spoilers for Wednesday and Wednesday season two ahead.

It's time to start the countdown for Wednesday season three because the show is officially back in production—and with plenty of new faces on set.

In case you need a refresher, in late 2022, everyone's favorite sadistic big sis finally got her own TV series with Netflix's Wednesday. The streamer's live-action series, all about Wednesday Addams of Addams Family fame, came straight from the deliciously twisted mind of Tim Burton, becoming one of the platform's most popular series in mere weeks. (Currently, it's still the number one most-viewed English language series in the streamer's history, with a cumulative of almost two billion hours viewed.)

22-year-old Jenna Ortega is the latest actor to step into the black-and-white attire of Wednesday Addams, and her modern version of the character can definitely brush shoulders with Yellowjackets star Christina Ricci's beloved, iconic portrayal of Wednesday from the early '90s. With the gothic, death-obsessed teen and her macabre-loving family back in the spotlight, we can’t get enough.

Three years after the premiere of season one of Netflix's Wednesday, season two, which was divided into two parts, arrived in the summer of 2025 and, much like its predecessor, it ended with many satisfying—and TBH, shocking—answers to the mysteries Wednesday was wrapped up in for the season's entire arc. However, we were left with many questions as well. Is Enid okay? Is Grandma Hester evil? Will Tyler be able to survive as a Hyde? What's Aunt Ophelia's deal?

The list could go on and on. There's still a lot to unravel—and we will likely get all the answers we want in season three. So, below, we've compiled a comprehensive guide to everything we know so far about Wednesday season three.

Who is in the cast of Wednesday season 3?

On February 23, 2026, Netflix made the official cast announcement for season three of Wednesday, and rejoice because most of the main cast will reprise their roles for the upcoming season—providing that they survived season two, that is.

As confirmed by Netflix, the main and recurring cast of Wednesday season three includes Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams, Catherine Zeta-Jones as Morticia Addams, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, Isaac Ordonez as Pugsley Addams, Joanna Lumley as Grandmama Hester Frump, Joy Sunday as Bianca, Georgie Farmer as Ajax, Moosa Mostafa as Eugene, Evie Templeton as Agnes DeMille, Victor Dorobantu as Thing, Emma Myers as Enid, Hunter Doohan as Tyler Galpin, Fred Armisen as Uncle Fester Addams, Billie Piper as Isadora Capri, Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Deputy Ritchie Santiago, Joonas Suotamo as Lurch, Liv Spencer as Varicose, and more.

The cast announcement also revealed a handful of new names joining the cast for its third instalment, most notably Winona Ryder, who will remain in the Netflix bubble following the completion of Stranger Things, taking on the role of Tabitha. Not much is known about the character, but Deadline reports it will be a guest-starring role.

Other guest stars include Game of Thrones alum Lena Headey, Andrew McCarthy, and James Lance. Details about their roles are being kept under wraps.

Other new cast additions are Chris Sarandon (The Princess Bride) as Baltazhar, Noah Taylor (Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones) as Cyrus, Oscar Morgan (A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms) as Atticus, and Kennedy Moyer (Roofman) as Daisy.

They join another previously announced season three addition. On November 25, 2025, Netflix announced that French actor Eva Green (Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, Dark Shadows) had joined the cast of the show as Morticia Addams's sister, Ophelia, one of the show's most mysterious characters, who is mentioned quite a lot in season two.

Aside from cast additions, one cast member isn't coming back. As noted by Deadline, Noah B. Taylor, who joined the cast in season two as Bruno Yuson, will not come back for season three. Season two of the show previously cut season one actors Naomi J. Ogawa, who played Yoko Tanaka, and Percy Hynes White. White, who played Xavier Thorpe in season one, faced allegations of sexual assault in 2023; per Variety, he publicly denied the claims, calling the allegations a “campaign of misinformation.” His character was mentioned at the beginning of season two as having moved to another country.

The cast announcement video notably features a large question mark, teasing what could be another A-list cameo. Lest we forget, Lady Gaga famously appeared in season two as a cameo as psychic Nevermore Academy teacher Rosaline Rotwood and also released an original song for the show, “Dead Dance.” Until we get a word from Netflix, the question mark will remain, well, an enigma.

When did Netflix renew Wednesday for season 3? And what has the streamer teased about it?

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, published on July 23, 2025, Tim Burton and Jenna Ortega reportedly confirmed that Wednesday had been renewed for a third season, ahead of the season two premiere. Netflix then confirmed the news via Tudum shortly after, unveiling a first-look poster featuring Wednesday in front of a crystal ball, held by Thing, with the number three prominently displayed."Bad things come in threes," the poster, which you can see below, reads.

"Our goal for season three is the same as it is for every season: to make it the best season of Wednesday we possibly can,” Wednesday co-creator and co-showrunner Alfred Gough told Tudum. “We want to continue digging deeper into our characters while expanding the world of Nevermore and Wednesday.” Co-creator and co-showrunner Miles Millar added, “We will be seeing more Addams family members and learning more family secrets in season three.”

The Hollywood Reporter noted that, in addition to an early renewal, the streamer reportedly has a spinoff series in the works—though it's still “in early discussions.” Gough said: “It’s something we’re definitely noodling; there are other characters we can look at." Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria added, “There’s a lot to explore in the Addams family.”

The showrunners had previously teased their storytelling plans to continue the Wednesday universe: While speaking to TV Line in 2022, Millar and Gough revealed that they planned Wednesday storylines as far out as "four seasons."

"We felt like we just touched the surface with those characters, and the actors are so amazing in those roles," Millar said. He also acknowledged that the show's focus on Wednesday and her journey "to forge her own path outside the family is important," but that the writers' room would “definitely” be interested in featuring more of the Addams family dynamic in future seasons.

“For us, it’s always looking at the future, and when we sit down to create a show, it’s looking at multiple seasons, ideally," Millar told Variety. “That’s never expected, but that’s the anticipation that hopefully the show is successful. So you always lay out at least three or four seasons’ worth of potential storylines for the characters.”

He continued, "It can evolve and change. Often, you want to see which characters or cast pop and who you like to write for. So you want to keep it open and organic enough to change it and evolve, but we certainly have a pretty clear runway of what we want to do in future seasons.”

What will Wednesday season 3 be about?

🚨 SPOILER ALERT FOR THE SEASON 2 FINALE🚨

To answer this question, we first need to examine how season two ended. We got a lot of answers in the finale of season two, including Thing's origin story, Morticia and Gomez's big secret regarding Isaac (which we learn was the reason the Addams patriarch lost his powers in the first place), and Tyler's long and complicated family tree.

However, there are mainly three main questions left unanswered that could serve as the baseline for Wednesday season three. The first is Enid's future. To recap a little, before the finale, Enid (Emma Myers) learns from fellow werewolf Isadora Capri (Billie Piper) that she could be an alpha, meaning she doesn't need a full moon to turn into her wolf form. However, we also learn that if Enid transforms during a full moon, she won't be able to turn back into her human form—and, lo and behold, she does just so to save Wednesday in the finale.

When Wednesday is buried alive by Isaac, Enid turns into a wolf to dig her out of her premature grave faster, despite it being a full moon. We then see her run off into the woods and, thanks to a little intel from Agnes (Evie Templeton), we know she's been spotted near the Canadian border, where Wednesday and Uncle Fester are now headed to find her. So, suffice to say it, this could (and should) be a major plot point in season three—at least to begin with.

“In season two, Enid becomes part of the pack. She has everything she wants. But then this new twist on her ability—it isolates her again,” Gough told Tudum. “Alphas are a super leader, but they are also feared by other werewolves. Now she’s a full werewolf—will she be able to come back? How will that affect her relationships moving forward?”

“It’s a cool new element to add to the werewolf trope, which is going to be fun to continue exploring," Myers added. "I hope this brings her and Wednesday closer together, because at their core, they’re still outcasts even within their own designated group of outcasts.”

“Enid is going to be stuck as a werewolf, having some crazy adventures up in Canada. But she’s going on a journey to find how to turn back into a human,” Myers added. “Wolf-Enid probably expects Wednesday to come find and help her—or, at least, I imagine she hopes for it.”

Another major plot point in season three will undoubtedly be Aunt Ophelia. In the season two finale, Morticia gifts Wednesday her sister's journal, which prompts our titular goth's psychic abilities to come back—though much hazier than at the beginning of the season. Wednesday sees a vision of her aunt still alive, despite her being described as “missing” for the whole season.

The viewers are privy to some info that Wednesday is not in her vision: Ophelia is being held captive inside a secret room at Grandma Hester's manor, and, well, it sure looks like she's got it out for her niece, seeing as we see her writing “WEDNESDAY MUST DIE” on the wall in massive red letters. Ominous.

“It was always the plan to give viewers a glimpse of [Ophelia] at the end of the season in a way that they weren't expecting, and then that’s a driver into season three," Gough told Tudum. “Ophelia has been gone a long time. It’s left a hole in Morticia’s life, and a lot of unanswered questions. The re-emergence of Ophelia is going to hit this family like a bomb," Millar continued, adding: “Once Morticia and Wednesday bond at the end, there’s that sense of a maturing relationship between the two of them, so season three offers the hope that Wednesday’s powers will be back.”

Another major mystery that will likely continue in season three is Tyler (Hunter Doohan). After being freed from Issac by Wednesday and fighting her mom, Tyler gets an invite from Capri to join a Hyde support system. It seems like Tyler is ready to disappear off the face of the earth to try to learn how to get over his monster form and return to himself.

“Imagine if we got to see Tyler really smile in season three—not a fake barista smile, not an evil grin,” Doohan told Netflix. “It’ll be the first time for the audience—and for Tyler himself—to meet the real Tyler. He’s got a lot of making up to do. And a lot to reconcile with. So I don't know it’s going to be an easy journey.”

When is Wednesday season 3 coming out?

Netflix has yet to announce a tentative release date for Wednesday season three. According to Forbes, the show was reportedly slated to begin filming in November 2025, but it was not until February 2026 that Netflix formally announced production had begun in Ireland.

In April, parts of the cast, including Jenna Ortega, Fred Armisen, Emma Myers, and Victor Dorobantu, were spotted filming on location in Paris, France.

The timeline gives us a rough estimate of what to expect based on previous seasons. Despite the first season premiering on November 23, 2022, Netflix only confirmed that Wednesday's second season began production in Ireland in May 2024, after Deadline reported that Wednesday would move its filming location from Romania due to "logistical challenges." On December 4, 2024, Netflix confirmed that production for Wednesday's season two had officially wrapped. The sophomore season then premiered on August 6, 2025.

If season three follows a similar schedule, we could realistically expect it most likely in 2027.
