Nick Jonas participated in one of Reddit's famous AMAs this afternoon (AMA stands for Ask Me Anything) — and just as you'd expect, he was asked a whole variety of questions, ranging from the silly to the serious.
In case you were wondering, yes, he's seen the South Park episode he and his brothers "guest-starred" in; of course he has a favorite flavor of beef jerky, and it is teriyaki. But one of the most intriguing questions he was asked was about the purity rings that he and his brothers wore during their time as a band (you know, the Jonas Brothers).
He also says that he gets why people were fixated on the concept, explaining: "It was such a strange thing to a lot of people to wear these purity rings especially as young men in a pop boy band. But I think when I'm looking back on it, although it was challenging to live with that, to be seen and have that attached to our name was very tough. I think it was a good thing. It gave me a really good perspective to where as now my main thing is about being okay with who I am as a man and the choices I've made."
He added that "everyone should have a good and solid conversation with either their parents or loved ones about sex and about what they want to do with their life, because it shouldn't be taboo. It's a big part of who we are and what makes us human, and if we can't address these things head on, then I think that it can really be challenging."
Other things we learned in the AMA: He's really excited for ex-girlfriend Miley Cyrus' new turn as an actress in Woody Allen's new project, and explained where the title of his new album Last Year Was Complicated, came from. And when one user tried to troll him about what it was like to be in Hanson, he served the troll right back, saying it was almost as good as being in the Bee Gees.
