Olivia Rodrigo is no stranger to referential fashion – the "Good 4 U" video is filled with costumes from movies like Jennifer's Body. This week, though, the singer outdid herself with a dress straight out of a fashion icon's closet.

During her “73 Questions” video with Vogue, Rodrigo wore a plaid mini dress that she paired with tall black boots. Toward the end of the video she reveals that she bought it from Bones and All actress Chloe Sevigny's coveted closet sale that took place in New York. “This dress used to be Chloe Sevigny's and she had a sample sale where she sold a bunch of her clothes,” she said while placing her hands on her hips. “And I had had a picture of her wearing this dress saved on my Pinterest for years. And I was actually able to get my hands on it, and I was so lucky it's my most prized possessions.”

The sample sale in question went viral when it had lines around the block with people clamoring to get their hands on her clothing. (Some outlets even called it “The sale of the century.”)

The dress in question was first spotted on Sevigny in 2016, when she wore it over a black turtleneck along with black knee socks and the photo has since made its way to thousands of Pinterest boards including Rodrigo's. Sevigny is, of course, a New York City fashion icon and it makes perfect since that a self-proclaimed 90s fashion lover and new New York City resident like Rodrigo would want to borrow from her style.

What's even better is that Rodrigo is promoting secondhand and vintage shopping with the look. Later in the video she even gave some sound advice for those who want to vintage shop like her. “Have patience, go with your friends, and get stuff altered.” she said.
