Olivia Rodrigo knows a thing or two about the little black dress. At this point she might even be considered a connoisseur. On December 7, the “Can’t Catch Me Now” singer went on the Late Night Show with Jimmy Fallon in a little black dress. The 20-year-old singer wore a Shushu/Tong Spring/Summer 2024 ready-to-wear dress. It had very thin spaghetti straps, lace trim around the top and bottom and scattered blue flowers across the entire dress. She paired it with black mary jane-esque shoes and a blue headband a la Blair Waldorf. She had her long hair curled with a middle part and natural makeup to finish the entire look.
While on the show, Fallon talked about Rodrigo’s insane year. She released her sophomore album GUTS, receiving six Grammy Award nominations and she wrote a hit song for the dystopian blockbuster series, The Hunger Games. Rodrigo shared how her albums feel more like a diary, but writing this song for the franchise really pushed her as a songwriter. And the fun won’t be ending this year as she’ll find out how many of those Grammy awards she’ll be taking home come February, and then, she will kick off her world stadium tour for the album.
In the meantime, Rodrigo will also be the musical guest this week on Saturday Night Live, which we can expect to receive even more fashion moments similar to her late show appearance.
Sartorially, Olivia Rodrigo loves a good mini dress. Even more so she loves a good LBD. And honestly, the little black dress can do no wrong. It’s perfect in almost every situation and clearly, Rodrigo has figured this out. She’s consistently worn variations of the dress over the years. From the Mirror Palais lace slip dress she wore in 2022 after attending a Chappell Roan concert at the Bowery Ballroom to the mini sequined keyhole cutout dress she wore to the Universal Music Group’s 65th Grammy Awards after-party, Miss Rodrigo loves a little black dress. And we honestly can’t blame her. No matter the variant, the LBD is a timeless classic to have in your closet. And Rodrigo is proving the more you have, the merrier.
