Is it really winter if you're not wearing a black North Face puffer? We say no, and so does Olivia Rodrigo, who paired the winter staple with a cute, cheeky baseball cap for the perfect casual-but-cool 'fit.
If the weather is rapidly cooling down where you live, you've probably already pulled out your winter jackets and coats. But if there's something missing in your winter wardrobe, why not follow Rodrigo's lead and stick with a classic? The musician recently wore a 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket in black but skipped the beanie in favor of a “WINONA” hat from IDEA.
Judging from her Instagram Story pic, she was at some sort of Christmas celebration (note the tree in the background and the ornament in her red-painted fingernails), and while her outfit is definitely giving “running errands in the cold” versus “holiday party festive,” it's a practical pick for those ultra-chilly days.
The 1996 Retro Nuptse Jacket is one of the North Face's warmest winter coats, with its big, puffy layers filled with ultra-insulating down. The brand describes the hip-length, zip-up Nuptse as a “global symbol for decades,” given its nearly 30-year run; it retails for $330 usually (but it's on sale at the time of writing) and comes in a handful of colors, including gold, turquoise, and white.
Rodrigo wore hers with gray jeans and a gray, red, and black plaid scarf, which she tied around her neck and atop the WINONA hat. Rodrigo's exact hat, an homage to another '90s icon, Winona Ryder, is currently sold out, but you could easily replicate the look with your favorite baseball cap. (Preferably one that references a famous movie star!)
Olivia Rodrigo recently wrapped her GUTS tour and is enjoying some well-deserved time off, which means relaxation for her and (hopefully) plenty more outfit inspo for us!
