The Oscar nominations for 2022 are finally here. With the Golden Globes’s private ceremony and the Grammys’ postponement due to the COVID-19 Omicron surge, award season has looked… a little different this year. But the show must go on, and it's nearly time to celebrate the best in film.
The 94th Academy Awards nominees were announced on February 8 by actors Tracee Ellis Ross and Leslie Jordan in an online livestream, and the official ceremony is scheduled to take place in-person on March 27, 2022, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California.
New changes to this year’s ceremony include three appointed co-hosts (Regina Hall, Wanda Sykes, and Amy Schumer) — the Oscars have not had a host since 2018 — and the extension of nominees for the Best Picture category. Historically, a sliding range of five to 10 films have been nominated for the night’s biggest award — this year, there will be an official total of 10 nominees.

Many of the most buzz-worthy films of 2021 were nominated for Best Picture, like sci-fi epic Dune, controversial coming-of-age period piece Licorice Pizza, Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story, Netflix satire Don’t Look Up, and the Williams sisters' biopic King Richard.
According to early Oscar predictions, expected frontrunners for the prize are Western Power of the Dog, directed by this year's only female Best Director nominee Jane Campion, CODA, the coming-of-age drama about a teenager who is the only hearing person in her deaf family, and Kenneth Branagh's semi-autobiographical film Belfast, about a working class family in Northern Ireland in the late 1960s.
Notable nominations this year include Andrew Garfield, who scored his second Academy Award nomination for his portrayal of Jonathan Larson in Tick, Tick… Boom!, and first-time nominees Kristen Stewart for Spencer, Ariana DeBose for West Side Story, and megastar Beyoncé for her original song “Be Alive” for King Richard.
Beyoncé will be performing at this year's show, alongside other nominees for Original Song, like the cast of Disney's Encanto — who are set to debut their first-ever live performance of “We Don't Talk About Bruno” — “No Time to Die” scribes Billie Eilish and FINNEAS, and more.
The Oscars 2022 ceremony will begin live at 8 p.m. ET on March 27, and will be available to watch online via live stream and on TV.
