Was the best film of the year Sinners, One Battle After Another, Marty Supreme, or something else entirely? The Oscars 2026 nominations are here to offer up some critically-acclaimed options.

On Jan. 22, the Academy Awards hosted a live stream available on Oscars.org, Good Morning America, and more, where actors Danielle Brooks and Lewis Pullman announced the highly-anticipated 2026 Oscar nominees.

Ahead of the announcement, predictions of snubs and record-breaking runs were everywhere. Variety noted that Ryan Coogler's Sinners could break the record for number of nominations with 15 projected category honors; the current record-holder is All About Eve with 14. And they did indeed break the record—Sinners was nominated for 16 Oscars 2026 awards, including Best Picture and Best Director.
