Outback Steakhouse Responds to Viral Social Media Conspiracy Theory

All roads lead to the Bloomin' Onion.

Outback Steakhouse is known for several things: a place to gather with your friends, pretty delicious meals, and the infamous Bloomin' Onion — just to name a few. But according to some people on social media, the popular chain might also be at the center of a conspiracy theory. (Hey, if there's one thing the internet loves more than fried onions, it's conspiracy theories, am I right?)

It all started when Twitter user @eatmyaesthetics noticed something strange about the positioning of several Outback restaurants on Google Maps. If you connect the dots between the locations, you'll end up drawing a star. It didn't just happen once, but rather, several times, making people wonder: What is Outback up to?!?!

Others quickly began to catch on, finding even more stars of their own within the maps. Some people even printed out screenshots — to make a conspiracy board wall, perhaps? Soon, the mystery became just too much for people to handle. What did it all mean?!

But before the theories could snowball too much, the restaurant itself jumped in to clear things up. The official Outback Twitter shared a map with a Bloomin' Onion photoshopped over the locations, writing: "Plot twist. If the Bloomin' Onion is evil then we don't want to be nice." TBH, they have a point — where the Bloomin' Onion leads, we will follow. Well played, Outback, well played.
