Where to Get Paul Mescal's Freaky New T-shirt

Every single time you see a photo of Paul Mescal, he's probably wearing something from Gucci. The man has been the global ambassador of the Italian house since 2023, and creative director Sabato De Sarno does red carpets very, very well.

But sometimes (just sometimes), he switches it up by wearing something from a whole new brand. He's done it before with Charles Jeffrey cardigans. He's done it before with Extreme Cashmere sweaters. And yesterday, he did it again with his new fave tee, which, funnily enough, is about to become your new fave tee.

Produced in New York and made from Japanese cotton, the very appropriately named “Creased T-shirt” was designed by a label called Commission, and it's become pretty culty ever since it was launched. Available in a creamy ecru color combo, the left side is stitched with two permanent creases, and that makes for a slightly trippy tee.

And this freaky vibe is a go-to for Commission. Founded by Dylan Cao and Jin Kay in 2018, it originally just designed womenswear. But in 2021, fans were practically begging for a full menswear drop, and that's exactly what they got. Drawing inspo from the designers' East Asian heritage and '70s dad style, the brand's pieces look pretty simple and straightforward at first glance. When you take a closer look, though, there's always something there that'll catch you off-guard.

Shirts will come with three collars. Jumpers will come with extra sleeves. And leather jackets? They'll come with random cuts across the chest. And you know what? It's exactly the kinda stuff that Mescal would wear. Take, for example, his white tee and blue jeans combo that he wore at a Gucci party last year. It sounds simple on paper, but everything was slightly cropped and micro and the perfect amount of weird. Case in point:

Then, there were all those Renaissance-coded shirts and tiny watches that he rocked throughout the Gladiator 2 press tour. It's this type of quiet chaos that keeps him ahead of the curve. And for that, you can largely thank his stylist Felicity Kay, who told Vogue in a 2023 interview that she “quickly got a sense that [Paul] had great taste.”

She's right. He does. And if you want great taste, too, take a leaf out of Paul Mescal's book and inject some freakiness into your T-shirts.
