In honor of First Lady Michelle Obama's 53rd birthday, President Obama took to Twitter to celebrate with a photo, and it is completely aww-worthy. The photo, which captures the spirit of their personal and political partnership, shows the couple sitting on a golf cart in their formal attire, flashing peace signs. In the tweet accompanying the photo, Obama writes, "To the girl from the South Side who took on a role she didn't ask for and made it her own: Happy Birthday, Michelle. I love you."

It's still hard to fathom that in just a few days, Obama's presidency will officially come to an end to make way for President-elect Donald Trump. Michelle Obama is a valuable role model for young girls and women everywhere. As First Lady, she's championed fitness and healthy eating, education, and the power of diversity. She's even played a helping hand in shaping her husband's political platform. President Obama recently revealed that it was Michelle who encouraged him to use his signature catchphrase, "Yes we can."
