If you loved FX's Adults and Prime Video's Overcompensating, you are going to want to add HBO's I Love LA to your watch lists. Created by and starring Bottoms star Rachel Sennott, I Love LA appears to be HBO's bet on the popular ensemble comedy series format, and it's looking to take our screens by storm.
Confirmed for an eight-episode debut season, Sennott executive-produced the show alongside Emma Barrie (Barry), Aida Rodgers (True Detective), Max Silvestri (Killing It), and Lorene Scafaria (Hustlers), with episodes directed by Sennott and Scafaria themselves, as well as Bill Benz (St. Denis Medical) and Kevin Bray (Insecure).

I Love LA will premiere on HBO on Sunday, November 2, 2025, at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT. The show will also be available to stream on HBO Max. Episodes will be released weekly at the same time, with the season 1 finale set to air on Sunday, December 21, 2025.
What will HBO's I Love LA be about?
Not much is known about the plot of I Love LA, but the series' official logline confirms the show will follow “an ambitious friend group as they navigate life and love in LA.” Per IMDb, the show focuses on “a tight-knit friend group gathers after years apart, navigating the complexities of ambition, relationships, and how time has changed them.”
Who is in the cast of HBO's I Love LA?
I Love LA centers around a group of five friends, portrayed by Rachel Sennott, Jordan Firstman, Josh Hutcherson, Odessa A'zion, and True Whitaker.
29-year-old Rachel Sennott, known for her work on Bottoms, Shiva Baby, Bodies Bodies Bodies, and more, stars as Maia. Aside from having creator, acting, and executive producing credits, the project will also mark Sennott's directorial debut.
34-year-old LA-based writer, producer, comedian, and singer Jordan Firstman joins the main cast as Charlie. Firstman's credits as an actor include FX's English Teacher and Dave, Ms. Marvel, Rotting in the Sun, and more.
32-year-old Josh Hutcherson is also part of the leading ensemble as Dylan, who appears to be Maia's boyfriend. Hutcherson, who splits his time between Madrid and LA, is best known for his role as Peeta Mellark in the original Hunger Games film saga. Most recently, he's appeared in Apple TV+'s The Studio and Long Gone Heroes.
25-year-old Los Angeles native Odessa A'zion, previously also known as Odessa Adlon, stars as Tallulah, who seems to have a love-hate friendship with Maia. A'zion's previous credits include Grand Army, Ghosts, Am I OK?, and more.
27-year-old True Whitaker rounds off the main quintet, bringing Alani to life. Whitaker's only previous acting credit is in MGM+'s Godfather of Harlem. Aside from I Love LA, she's also set to appear in Spring Breakers: Salvation Mountain and Berry's Batteries.
As confirmed by HBO, the show will also include guest stars like Leighton Meester, Moses Ingram, Lauren Holt, Elijah Wood, Quenlin Blackwell, Josh Brener, Tim Baltz, Froy Gutierrez, and Colin Woodell.
