Every Time Reneé Rapp Was Hilariously Chaotic on the Mean Girls Press Tour

The Mean Girls press tour has been nothing short of iconic, nostalgic, and a little bit chaotic. And Reneé Rapp has been at the front and center of it all (well, duh, she is THE Regina George).

Aside from the reunions between the OG cast of the 2004 Mean Girls and the stars of the new musical installment going viral online, Rapp has gotten her own attention for the many unfiltered comments she's made in interviews over the last several weeks. The ongoing joke is that Rapp has had “no media training,” and has said whatever is on her mind.

Rapp has always kept things straightforward; the actor and musician took the stage at Teen Vogue Summit in November and opened up about struggling with an eating disorder, while also keeping things light and funny. Including discussing her one and only “boy crush” on Justin Bieber, which may have been because he “looks like a lesbian.

Her charm and honesty have only continued to gain attention during this most recent press tour. From calling out a business owner who she said was misogynistic, to stumbling (completely sober) with a bottle of champagne in her hand, Reneé Rapp has given fans everything and more. Here are some of our favorite moments:

Calling out Buddy the bus tour company owner

At some point during an interview, Rapp was reminded of a business owner named Buddy who was “disrespectful” and “misogynistic” to herself and her friends. During her rant about Buddy, Rapp's Mean Girls co-star, Christopher Briney (who plays Aaron Samuels), was laughing and covering his face.

“He is such an a**hole,” Rapp says about Buddy the bus touring company owner. “If you're watching this, I can't stand you and I hope your business burns. You are so disrespectful and misogynistic, I hate you.”

Saying gay people are “cooler and better”

Reneé Rapp has been open about being a proud queer woman and her journey to feeling comfortable in her sexuality. So she admits she might be “biased” when saying that “gay people are just like, generally cooler and better," particularly in pop culture. Rapp adds “no offense, I love you” to her co-star for good measure.

Defending Megan Thee Stallion

I mean, this one is a no-brainer. An interviewer asked Rapp about what it was like working with Megan Thee Stallion on their Mean Girls song, “Not My Fault," to which Rapp said, “So sick.” She also added that Megan has “the best ass I've ever seen in my life," before making sure to say that she would defend the rapper no matter what. Without using his name, Rapp seemingly referenced how much she despises Tory Lanez, the rapper who was sentenced to 10 years in prison for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

“She's the coolest and I'm such a huge fan of hers,” Rapp said. “I'm a true, true Meg supporter and I hate that other man. I love Megan Thee Stallion. I love her. And if anybody tries her when it comes to that sorry-ass man, it's a do-or-die fight for me.”

Falling with a bottle of champagne in hand… completely sober

The actor was spotted taking a tumble (relatable) while walking out of The Late Show with Stephen Colbert studio on January 10, which also happened to be her 24th birthday. After promoting the movie musical on the late-night talk show, Rapp jokingly posted a photo of her bruised knee and ripped tights with the caption, “fell before I was drunk happy birthday to me.”

Shooting her shot with Rachel McAdams

From one Regina George to another…

During her interview on The Late Show, Stephen Colbert asked Rapp if she had seen the 2004 Mean Girls movie when it came out and if she had any notes for Rachel McAdams, who originated the iconic villain.

“Any notes for her? Date me?” Rapp responded. The crowd started applauding and Colbert added, “She might be watching, you never know.”

Dragging Jo Koy for his poor-taste Golden Globes jokes

The Plastics made an appearance on TODAY with Hoda and Jenna last week and gave their ins and outs for 2024. Angourie Rice, who plays Cady Heron, Avantika, who plays Karen, and Bebe Wood, who plays Gretchen, all gave their semi-normal answers for ins and outs. (Avantika said Danny DeVito was in, which obviously is correct.) But when the mic got to Regina George herself — ahem, Reneé Rapp — she made sure to call out some very annoying men as her out for the year.

“My out first is the man that yelled at me this morning at 8 a.m. and told me to smile. Go to hell,” Rapp began, before adding another. “And also my out is the man that was making a bunch of jokes about women last night at the Golden Globes.”

Rapp was referring to comedian Jo Koy, who hosted the Golden Globes last weekend and made several “jokes” about the Barbie movie, Taylor Swift, and more than didn't land well. While it appeared that most of the crowd, and MANY viewers, weren't feeling his monologue, it seems that Rapp has joined in on that too.

Never change Reneé. Mean Girls is now playing everywhere.
