As part of the promotion for their new album, Eureka, indie rockers Rooney have been on not one, but two tours this summer: in addition to their cross-country headline tour (with support from The Young Veins and BlackGold) they’ve also been performing with Hanson on the Shout it Out tour. So it’s been a near three-month-long traveling marathon for the band, who’ve found all sorts of unusual ways to keep themselves entertained between gigs. Check out the slideshow below for the details of some of their more memorable on-tour exploits...

As we’ve stopped for a show in Washington D.C., Brandon and Ned decided to join one of our friends for a private tour of the U.S. capitol buildings. We were caught in the rain as we were nearing the building--the really chubby, soaking rain, not the misty kind. For some reason, this happens to Brandon every other day (we think the heavens are hazing him for being new around here.) We arrived at the building and were granted full access to many top-secret facilities because our friend is a big-shot D.C. reporter; as you can see in our photo we even stood at the at the senate press podium. Did you know there was a private subway line between the government buildings in D.C.? Well, there is. At one point we saw some serious military heavyweights getting out of a meeting in an underground tunnel and literally all of them stared at Brandon as they passed. We think it’s because he was dressed like an angry, protesting Vietnam vet but we can’t be sure. It was a lot of fun to step away from the tour for a moment and it made us all the more eager to play the evening show.
