Sabrina Carpenter joined the pantless trend at Met Gala 2025, looking like a tailored-to-perfection marching band conductor in a maroon Louis Vuitton as she headed up the red carpet.
Carpenter revealed the trend was partially a height issue, and Pharrell — who she collaborated with on the look — apparently told her so. “He was like, 'You're quite short, so no pants for you,'" Carpenter shared in her red carpet interview, adding that her sky high heels are pretty much a staple. The look isn't unlike something she'd wear on stage at the Short ‘n Sweet Tour, minus the ubiquitous sparkles of course.

This is Carpenter's third Met appearance, and she's hoping for a major milestone. “Never been to the bathroom once… tonight might be the night," she said on the carpet, sharing that her previous looks made them impossible to remove. "I'm sure it's a normal museum bathroom but I'm excited to find out.” Last year, she walked the red carpet with then-boyfriend Barry Keoghan (Cue: the Met Gala curse rumor).
Carpenter wasn't the only celebrity to ditch pants at this year's Met Gala. Lisa of BLACKPINK also went for a sheer tights moment, and so did fashion designer Helen Lasichanh, Pharrell's wife.
It's a fun moment of celebration for Carpenter, who is on a break in her Short 'n Sweet Tour and recently made an appearance on Saturday Night Live with Quinta Brunson. The two women, united in being, well, short, made a series of height-related jokes.
“You were talking about being short,” Carpenter said on SNL. “So I thought I’d stop by.”
