When Sabrina Carpenter released Short n' Sweet in August, fans immediately started to speculate about the inspiration behind the songs, particularly as it pertains to her romantic life.

Though Sabrina Carpenter was already no stranger to fan theories — lest we forget about the “driver's license" to “because i liked a boy” drama of it allShort n' Sweet undoubtedly sparked even more discourse around Carpenter's private life, starting with the appearance of real-life boyfriend Barry Keoghan in the “Please Please Please” music video and ending with multiple theories about Shawn Mendes and another love triangle.

In a new interview with Time, Carpenter actually opened up about using her relationships as inspiration for the tracks on Short n' Sweet. Though she, of course, refused to name names, she did get candid about how pulling from her own life made her feel, admitting there's a sense of relief in it but also expressing one major reservation.

Speaking to the publication ahead of her Madison Square Garden show, Carpenter said that “it has been a really therapeutic album to be able to just say what [she is] thinking” on Short n' Sweet, but joked that “it'll probably bite [her] in the *ss at some point.”

“I’m so blunt and forward," Carpenter continued, referring to her songs. “I feel like, what is the reason that we're all hiding from each other when these are just real things? Sometimes men embarrass you. That's super normal," she continued, in reference to the sentiment contained in “Please Please Please.”

“This just really hits for the girls that have every right to go back to someone who isn't good for them, and know that those mistakes are absolutely human to make, and repeatedly," she added. “The amount of times that we've all been with people we shouldn't be. We either learn it the hard way, or we are a miracle, and we end up marrying that person.” Well, the Queen has spoken.
