Sabrina Carpenter is beating all of the lip-sync allegations during her ongoing Short n' Sweet Tour. Earlier this week, a video from the singer's opening concert in Columbus's Nationwide Arena went viral on TikTok. In the clip, Carpenter enters the stage with a massive coffee mug, doing a little skit before performing her hit single “Espresso.”

Though the theatrics were undeniable, a user took to the comment section to question Carpenter's singing abilities. “Does she ever sing live?" they commented under the video.
The comment prompted a video response from the original poster. “Hate to say it, but 30% lip [syncing], 30% backing tack, 40% singing,” the uploader replied, inserting another video of Carpenter performing “Please Please Please.”

Carpenter wasn't having any of the speculation and took to the comment section of the second video to clear the air. “I sing live every show 100%,” the star commented. “Would you like to speak to my audio engineers?”
Not content with the reply alone, it seems like Carpenter also made some tweaks to her set for the following concerts. Users online noted that the backing track is way less prominent in new videos from Carpenter's performance at Hartford's XL Center on October 2, 2024.

“Her completely removing the backtrack for the next show i’m crying she’s so petty i love her," a fan pointed out on X. “And she did it for all of her songs as well. She’s amazing,” someone else added. “It sounds way better like this actually & I've always loved her live performances 😭 I hope she does this for every future show,” a third one said.
Sharing another video from the following night in Boston of Carpenter performing “Don’t Smile,” another user commented: “She really turned up her mic”
