Sabrina Carpenter has three Met Galas under her belt, and each look has been a total departure from the last. Though the star has a very firmly defined aesthetic while onstage and in her music videos, she's not afraid to deviate from the cheeky pinup look when it's time for the Met Gala.
Carpenter made her Met debut back in 2022 at the “In America: An Anthology of Fashion” event, sparkling like a star in a gold two-piece. This year, she's not just attending the Gala; she's on the host committee alongside celebs like Doja Cat, Alex Consani, Misty Copeland, Paloma Elsesser, Lisa, and Teyana Taylor, so we know she's been busy planning her 2026 ensemble. The theme is “Costume Art,” and the dress code is “Fashion Is Art," which lends itself to a wide variety of interpretations.
The Met Gala takes place on Monday, May 4, so we don't have long to wait to see what Carpenter is wearing when she walks those famous stairs! But in the meantime, let's take a look at her previous Met Gala looks through the years.
2025: Superfine: Tailoring Black Style
For the 2025 Gala, Carpenter teamed up with Pharrell and Louis Vuitton and walked the carpet in a pantsless ensemble in a lovely shade of reddish brown. She wore a corseted bodysuit with a beautifully tailored, cropped jacket atop it, aligning with the “Tailored for You” theme. Attached to the tails of the jacket was an extra-long train, which flowed behind her as she walked. She paired the pinstriped outfit with tall platform pumps in the same color. “My look is a dramatic take on a dandy tailcoat with an elongated train,” Carpenter told Vogue. “It mixes Savile Row tailoring with Parisian corsetry. The striped burgundy wool is hand-embroidered and finished with crystal buttons.”
2024: Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion
The 2024 Gala was Carpenter's second time walking the famous Met steps, and she did so in a black Oscar de la Renta gown with an enormous, pale blue skirt and train. (At the time, we said she looked like a floating bubble.) The look was a departure from her kittenish, coquettish aesthetic, especially her beauty details; she skipped the spray tan and big bombshell hair in favor of softer makeup shades and a half-up hairstyle.
2022: In America: An Anthology of Fashion
Carpenter made her Met Gala debut in 2022 wearing a glittering gold custom Paco Rabanne. The cropped bikini top and full skirt shimmered on the red carpet and Carpenter told Vogue that despite its statement-making size, the outfit was pretty easy to wear. “It’s shockingly so comfortable, which is a huge part of me feeling confident,” she said at the time. “[Paco Rabanne designer Julien Dossena's] looks are boundary-pushing yet so timeless, and, to me, the epitome of glamour. I could not be more excited that I get to wear one of my favorite designers to my first Met.”
