However, Selena Gomez's Alex Russo is not dead — but she is a mom, and she willingly enters another dimension to save her daughter. In the season two finale, it is revealed that Alex Russo is the mother of Billie, played by Janice LeAnn Brown. And the stars are breaking down the shocking reveal in a new video featurette released by Disney Channel, which you can see below.
In the episode, it is revealed that Alex had to wipe Billie's and the Russos' memories to keep her safe from her paternal grandfather, Nicodemus Pennwolf, a.k.a. Lord Morsus. While Alex is not technically dead, it's likely that we won't see or hear from her for a while. “It's so fun to see us pass the baton to a new generation,” Gomez says in the featurette, suggesting an even bigger shift in focus.
Gomez herself is overjoyed that the character, which she began playing in 2007 when she was just 15, is a mom. “Alex Russo is a mommy,” she wrote on her IG stories. “Hopefully one day that'll be me.” Fans also seem to be emotional about the fact that the character has grown so much.
