Wait, are Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco engaged? If a newly-shared post by Gomez is to be believed, it sure looks like it.
On August 8, 2024, Selena Gomez took to her Instagram stories to post what appears to be a tease that she and Benny Blanco are engaged. In the picture, Gomez is seen in a bathroom setting, taking a mirror selfie while wearing a champagne-colored midi dress. Blanco is seen barefoot in the background, wearing floral pants and a white tank top.
What's setting off engagement alarms is the fact that Gomez decided to purposely cover the fourth finger of her left hand, where one would usually wear engagement and wedding rings, with a heart emoji. “A night out,” she wrote in the photo.
Gomez's post seemingly teasing the engagement comes as speculation is at an all-time high. At the start of the week, popular gossip account Deuxmoi posted a “blind item” that many interpreted to be about Gomez and Blanco, which claimed a singer-actress “got engaged over the weekend to her boyfriend of a year."
The blind item claimed the engagement was “at their usual beach house hang out” and they were “surrounded by friends.” (Gomez famously has a beach vacation house in Malibu, where she films Selena + Chef and which she frequently frequents with Blanco).
Back in May, Blanco had expressed his desire to tie the knot and eventually start a family with Gomez in an interview with Howard Stern. When Stern said he was “predicting marriage” for the two, Blanco, without even hesitating, replied: “You and me both."
While we'll wait for official confirmation of the couple's engagement, judging by Gomez's photo, we are also predicting marriage.
