Selena Gomez loves a good bow, and her latest bow-ment may be her biggest and best yet. The actor/singer/Rare Beauty founder was all about the trending accessory at the premiere of her movie Emilia Pérez during the 62nd New York Film Festival in New York City.
Selena Gomez donned a gorgeous black halter gown with elbow-length disconnected “sleeves" for the premiere. The dress had a fitted, column-like silhouette that hit the floor and a subtly dipped cowl neckline.
The real surprise, however, was behind Gomez's back; instead of a traditional halter tie, the dress was fastened at her neck with an enormous black bow. As in, almost the entire width of her shoulders enormous. The dress may have featured one of the biggest trends of the 2020s, the bow, but it was an absolutely timeless style that could have been worn in the ‘60s, the ’90s, or 2024. We'd go as far as saying it almost has a Breakfast at Tiffany's Audrey Hepburn flair to it — with the body-hugging silhouette and matching gloves.
To better show off the bow and let it have its well-deserved moment in the spotlight, Gomez pulled her hair up in a high, tight knot at the top of her head and wore simple diamond drop earrings. The bow takes up a lot of real estate, so Gomez and her glam team clearly planned the look around that peekaboo bow moment.
Gomez is definitely making the most of her time in NYC. Prior to the Emilia premiere, she hit up Sabrina Carpenter's sold-out Madison Square Garden show in another black dress, this time a short sequined style with sheer panels from Vietnamese couturier Cong Tri, which she paired with ALDO's Grandstep boots, currently on sale for less than $65.
No matter what shoes you pair them with, LBDs are a mainstay in her routine as a whole; she recently wore two dramatically different styles to promote Emilia Pérez, including a feathered confection we're still thinking about. Of course, those dresses didn't have a giant bow detail, but we love them anyway!
